It's a changing of the guard. Big changes were always coming with SAF leaving. Losing the best manager in the history of the game is tough.

We have more homegrown players on our 25 man squad than any other team in the top 5.

Not a whole lot, though it is a consideration. In the modern game, you have to spend some money to win. As a club, we have always placed emphasis on youth to supplement spending. In the past, we have hit on developing some of the best players the club has ever seen. However, it is hit or miss with youth development, and the latest window saw us sell off some former youth players who weren't deemed good enough.

I'm not necessarily ready to say the club's identity has shifted. LvG has been known to place high regard on bringing youth through the ranks, and we purchased a couple of young prospects this window.

Nothing really. This was always going to happen. There's no way that every other club can drop all of this money and us not have to do it a bit. Doesn't mean we have to abandon youth or anything. We just needed to get what we could after spending this money.
