yeah i understand the advertising part. i know adidas is slightly bigger in the soccer market whereas nike is fairly significantly bigger overall, but it seems impossible to me that adidas could "price out" nike. nike has intimate knowledge of how much they made from manU (and arsenal, for that matter) and they balked at re-upping at that price. i guess i'm just curious if we're nearing a point where some of these deals start rounding off because they're too high.

Nike might be hitching its wagon to City becoming a long term giant.

B/c when it comes to major clubs. They have City, Barca, Inter, PSG about to lose Juve

Adidas now has United, Chelsea, Bayern, Madrid, Milan,

all day i dream about sports

ps - it is based on the name of its creator, Adi Dasler from Germany. The "All Day I Dream About Soccer" just happend to be coincidental and they sort of used it as a marketing ploy. His brother Rudolph broke off and started PUMA. Dude's must have a few bucks.

This United deal is apparently markedly higher than the next highest deal on the market. I imagine everyone will sit back and see how this one pans out before companies starting bidding close or higher on other clubs. But, yeah, you have to think they aren't far from hitting the ceiling with the going rates.

yeah it's huge. but you guys are the world's biggest (or second biggest, can't remember on Real) soccer brand. i just tend to think if these huge deals were actually worth it, Nike would have held onto ManU and Arsenal. no reason to not bid if it's still going to be profitable. must be some concern there that it's too much.

"Ryan Giggs does not want United to retire the No11 shirt after wearing the number for the majority of his 23 years as a player at the club. “No. There are obviously special cases but it just depends on the club really,” he said. “I don’t think it’s [right] for United where they constantly churn out great players.

“I haven’t thought about who will take over the No11 shirt – that’s a good question.”"

To those who care; Who would you like to see in the 7, 11, and 9?
I would like Januzaj take the 11 and hopefully continue to improve and becomes the player we all think he can be.
The 7 I can see going to Mata. Although a different player than Ronaldo, Beckham, and Cantana; I think he is the only player that can really do it justice.
9 I really hope James Wilson can come into his own. Like Januzaj, if what we saw of him last season is any indicator, then he will be the next 9 for a long time.

What do you rate the positions so far?
GK- A- (De Gea, Amos, Lindengaard)
CB- D (Evans, Smalling, Jones*, Varela)
RB- C+ (Rafael, Jone*, Vermijl)
LB- C? (Shaw)
CM- B (Carrack, Fletcher, Jones*, Fellaini, ----------------Cleverly, Anderson)
AM- B+ (Mata, Kagawa, Herrera, Powell)
LW- C? (Januzaj, Young, Welbeck*)
RW- B (Valencia, Nani, Zaha, Bebe)
SS- A (Rooney, Welbeck*)
CF- A (RVP, Chicharito, Wilson, Henriquez)

-CB, LB, CM we have no depth.
-We need a proven CB to play with Evans, because I don't think Jones is going to cut it at CB.
-I love Carrack and Fletcher, but we need a complete overhaul at CM.

I think these are the biggest areas of concern. We need a complete midfielder in the mold of a Vidal (if not Vidal) to help run LVG's system. I know Herrera has a lot of the same abilities, but we could use another for several reasons. I still think Rafael can do a job at right back if he can stay healthy and improve his positional awareness.

I almost want Carrick to be converted to a full time CB.

-That might be a real possibility if we can get a player like Vidal.
-I really like Fletcher, but it's just hard to tell how he will bounce back after every injury.
-I still don't really know what to do with Jones. I really like his work rate, but the only position I think he can start is CB, but that says more about how bad Smalling is. He's might be a little better or even with Rafael, but I still have hopes that Rafael will improve in defending one of these years.
-Can Herrera play holding CM? I havn't seen him play, and by what I hear he is more of CAM.

He played CAM at Bilbao, but his defensive ability is what he's known for.

Just watched a 10 min video of his highlights with porno music in the background. He's a lot better on defense and stronger on the ball than I initially thought. I think CB should be our primary concern followed by LB then lastly CM.

I hope Jones can turn out more than a better John O'Shea.

I wouldn't give up on him, smalling or rafael at this point but... Im not putting too much stock in them either.

Conte resigns at Juve. Transfer policy issues were reportedly factors. Let's see if it was about Pogba or Vidal.
