I don't think they claim one causes another as much as they deride those who exploit the poor for political gain.

If conservatives really wanted to restore the 2 parent household, or at least increase the propensity of such, they should hop on board with ending the war on drugs, which disproportionately effects minorities. A dad who gets high on marijuana every once in a while, but still manages to be home and provide for his family is much better than removing the dad from the family altogether. We've created thousands of welfare recipients because of that stupid war.
