I only managed to play 2 hours of the beta and haven't been keeping up with this thread, but did anyone else find the story pretty lame ?
I know I only played 2 hours. So for those who got into it, how does the story progress ?

Well the beta didn't let me get that far but no it's not strong on story. The atmosphere is good but the story is average.

No we don't but I think the make of the game limits the story very similar to how open works games are naturally handicapped.

This is a story that is going to be told over the next decade. Treat this as an MMO, and not a typical single player game that contains a conventional story with an opening, climax, and denouement. Information is revealed through strikes and missions, but don't expect a perfect plot arc to be developed.
I do find the lore incredibly interesting. No one really knows what the Traveler is, or why it made its way to our solar system...or even how its able to bestow certain beings with fantastical abilities. It's an enigma that humanity has placed its faith in for centuries.

That shouldn't worry you. Lots of games have told good stories as a fps.

Nope, I told you guys before the beta they weren't going to carry over, Bungie wants everyone on an even playing field from the start and I'm fine with that.

Ended up getting the game for free, Best Buy canceled my limited edition copy due to shortages. Gave me $50 because they fricked up.
