I'm reading Blood Song right now. It really is very good.

I'll probably read that next. People seem to love that book.

I'm really enjoying it. I'm about 275 pages in, not as far along as I would like to be. I'm enjoying how clever this book is. I also like how the chapters/sections jump back and forth between "present day" and when Lamora started his training with Father Chains.

I'm halfway through the third Gentlemen Bastards book, The Republic of Thieves. I like it so far, I think things are about to start happening. The second book Red Seas Under Red Skies was ok, not as good as the first book...but still worth reading to keep the series going.

That book is a clusterfrick of awesome. I loved it. Can't wait for the Thorn of Emberlain.

Does the author have a set number of books he's going to write?

7, I believe.
ETA: He has two novellas coming out as well that will be combined into one book (I think they've already been written?) that is sort of an offshoot from the main story line.

As long as he doesn't pull a George RR Martin and take 20 years to write them.....

As long as he can keep his crushing depression at bay, he churns books out quickly.

So I read Tower Lord by Ryan and I agree with you that it's superb and on the same level as Blood Song. Not sure why some folks are dogging it online, I guess it's just because it has multiple POV and they wanted the same Vaelin only setup as the first one.
Also read the first two of the Lightbringer books by Weeks, and both are great. Weeks has quickly shot up my favorite fantasy authors list. Not sure how I missed reading him all these years.

Weeks' unique take on magic systems is what draws me to him. I mean, colors? Really? That sounds so stupid, but it is, in fact, awesome.

Yeah, it works well. Have you read Warbreaker by Sanderson? Similar theme with a color based magic system, but much different in how they go about it. Very good book as well.

Is he a tortured artist or something?

I don't know. He seems to have battled depression for years and there was a time a few years back when he basically stopped everything when he got divorced and went into a deep circle of hell. He is also prone to anxiety attacks. Everything I've read from and about him indicates that he has the help he needs now and is in a good place, but I suppose he could always slip back into that stuff, particularly if his current relationship falls apart.
Goodreads has the Thorn of Emberlain slated for release in November of this year, but other sources are saying it's probably closer to Spring 2015, which would make the most sense. It may be nearly finished, but it will have to be edited and all that before publication.
In any case, he seems to be blowing and going right now, with the Thorn of Emberlain coming out relatively soon and a number of side projects.

Correct.
To show you Lynch's ability to write swiftly, Lies was published in June, 2006, Red Seas published in June, 2007. Then he went into depression and didn't come out until he published Republic of Thieves in October, 2013. The Thorn of Emberlain was expected out in late 2014 to early 2015. It's looking like early 2015. But regardless, when healthy, he publishes his books at a rate of about 1 per year. Even with his depression and anxiety he was able to churn out a book within six years of the other, which is about as long as it took GRRM to publish A Dance with Dragons.
ETA: and he's only 36.
