The gemino curse/doubling charm can just double things, not just unending like the Goblins use it. You can use it to make exact replicas. Only issue is those items will eventually reveal themselves either by going bad/looking different. I am sure the Goblins have ways to detect the gemino curse like the thief's downfall so you can't make a massive bank account though.

There is definitely some confusion about curses and when it will cause permanent damage. Sectumsempra did cause permanent damage when George's ear was removed. There may be a difference when it causes a cut versus severing a body part because sectumsempra literally means sever forever. May have also been Harry's lack of ability to do it as well, remember fake Moody told them they could all do Avada Kedavra to him and only cause a nose bleed.

I didnt know that that was the curse that hit George.
