Looks like it might happen.
Not sure if Germans.

The company’s prototype, called the SYNEK draft system, sits on your kitchen counter and dispenses beer—even from the most obscure craft breweries. The secret behind this “Keurig for beer” is a new kind of flexible packaging that holds the equivalent of about eleven 12-ounce beer cans, says SYNEK strategic director Mike Werner.

The SYNEK System Kickstarter campaign, which far surpassed its $250,000 goal with more than two weeks to go, has harnessed the power (and ample funds) of beer enthusiasts. Looks like the first SYNEK machines will indeed roll out by spring 2015.

really couldn't make it equivalent to 12 beers?

According to Werner, the SYNEK system will give small breweries, which couldn’t otherwise afford to distribute their product nationwide, a way to reach more drinkers. It’s a simpler distribution solution than growlers, which are tricky to transport, keep beer fresh for only a few days, and can taint the brew’s flavor.
They make it sounds as if these breweries will somehow be able to distribute to any place they want, which isn't going to happen. It would be cool, but liquor laws are a bitch.

The kickstarter video is pretty funny.
So, it's like a kuerig made it with a box of wine using hops as lube and this is what came of it?
Want.

I really hope this ends up happening. I would definitely buy one if the bags end up catching on with most breweries and you could easily buy them at your grocery store.
Really cool idea

...am I missing something or is a growler not much more practical?

It seems pretty pointless when you can just go to the store and buy the same thing in cans or bottles.

So are you brewing the beer from a small Keurig-sized package or are you just cooling a bag of beer and the amount of liquid in the bag is the same amount that will come from the tap? Because in that case it's just a beer-cooler and you get a more draft taste/head (which I could see some people buying depending on price).
