I often bike Breck. Coming from sea level, you'll definitely want to take the gondola up and ride down the fire roads and trails. You'll die if you have to do much uphill pedaling.

That being said, you absolutely need a helmet at bare minimum. You'll be fine in mesh shorts and a t-shirt. Bring sunglasses, even if it is cloudy. You are bound to get bugs, dust, rocks flying in your face.

Take it slow the first time or two down, get a feel for the bike and the brakes, then let loose.
