Does anybody here use this? Is it worth getting?

Well it voids your wii u warranty, so it may be better to do homebrew on a cheap used wii. The wii u has the wii components in it which is what makes it backward compatible with wii games. The wii components are what's being hacked when you hack the wii u. Nintendo can patch the wii u, but can't patch the wii. So unless you don't mind buying a new wii u if something goes wrong with it, I'd go with hacking a wii.

*note that I haven't actually used homebrew, just going off what I've heard and read

I had it on Wii (until I mistakenly assumed an update a year or so ago would be safe and Ninty waxed it) and it was pretty cool.

You could straight up steal every single Wii game and play it off an external hard drive if you wanted.

There was also a pretty big Smash Bros modder community.

I mostly used to watch my ripped DVD collection off my hard drive w/one of the media players somebody made for it.

There were also a ton of emulators and even indie games/mods you could download.

so I'd have to buy mk8 separately and another controller?

Unfortunately yes. I'm not sure which other bundle, if any, come with a WiiMote+. The Zelda does not.
