Coming from a guy who's starter yak was the Perception Pecador 12 from Academy, I'd get an FS12T from Bass Pro as a first yak.
ETA: Nothing wrong with the Pescador. It's just not the ideal fishing vessel.

Awhile ago I was looking at one of the pelicans from academy. Thank god for online reviews because I backed out of that with the quickness.

This is the decision Im trying to make. Any more info would be appreciated as to why you prefered the FS12T. Any specific details? Just felt more comfortable overall?
