My guess would be they're keeping the European audience in mind

These times allow for them to watch live.

US viewers definitely aren't the only ones who matter when a billion people watch

I believe I woke up around 3-4 a.m. to watch the US get "handed" out of the Cup in 2002.

Anybody that questions the conditioning of these players ... go outside in South LA at 1 pm and try to run 3 miles.

Brutal.

Europeans would watch at 3 am if they had to and wouldn't think twice about it. Especially if it meant they didn't have to throw their thermophobic players out there in 100 degree heat indexes at 1 pm.
