I feel like playing ffvi again and was debating playing it on the ipad this time instead of snes
looking for some opinions from those who have played the mobile port

The visual style will definitely clash hardcore with your nostalgia. It's still the same game with touch controls, but I'd still play GBA/PS1 over mobile version.

It's a great port but the controls are hard to get used to. In-combat stuff isn't so bad but walking around and interacting with stuff is The Struggle. I could see it being frustrating with a small screen as well. I have it for my galaxy tab pro 8.4.

yea i was concerned about that. I feel like using touch screen controls would be really uncomfortable.
I read somewhere awhile back that they were planning on making the IOS/android version much shorter in total play time with less grinding.
did you find that to be the case ?

Not really. They added an auto battle feature that is apparently supposed to make the game less grindy as you can just roll random encounters with it but I never used it so it wasn't really a longer or shorter experience than the original.
