Relatively minor, but the Stars re-signed Fiddler for 2 years/$2M. Glad to have him back if it's that cheap and only two years.

Stars should be pretty much done at this point and only have $6.6M left in space to sign Eakin, Dillon and Roussell so moving Cole and/or Gonchar(please!) could be huge. Especially because this team all of the sudden could be looking to add someone late to make a serious run.

Peverly is kind of a wildcard in all of this depending on whether he can(hopefully) still play this next year.

Jim Nill is a boss.

Nill is doing work. Just a terrific job completely transforming that roster in a little over a year. Even if he's stuck with Cole and Gonchar, they are on the last year of their deals, so it will free up cash going forward. Those aren't serious roadblocks to contention.

Besides, the Stars probably aren't aiming to win the Cup this year. This is about a team that can contend for 5-10 years. As much as they have improved, the Hawks, Blues, and Kings still exist and have far superior rosters. The West is f'n loaded. I think the Stars would be contenders to win the East, but they are stuck in the far more difficult conference.

Unfortunately I think those three will cost us roughly $7.5M. I think Gonchar definitely gets moved (with us retaining some salary) and it seems very possible that Peverley will go on long term injured reserve. Those two moves could free up around $6.5M.
