watched the finale twice, great finale.

super impressed by the performances all the way around.

IMO, justin theroux deserves at least an emmy nom for his performance throughout the season.

I have to admit - it started slowly and the story is still a little weird - but by Episode 3 (focused on Matt), I was hooked because the acting in this is as good as any of the great cable dramas of the past 15 years.

As good as Theroux is - I can't say he's better than any of them - Scott Glenn, Judging Amy, Dr. Who - even the kids have been really good so far.

Love this show. The Garvey and Holy Wayne scene was incredible. Those two guys acted the shite out of it.
Questions:

Do y'all think the Asian chick got on the black church bus?

Why did the son leave the baby on the porch?

The GR is whack and is their endgame to get killed and somehow weirdly martyr themselves. Still not sure about them.

Does Holy Wayne really have powers?

The convo with the priest about the chick vanishing while they were banging. Lulz.

First show since Lost to capture that vibe with me.

No question the actors bring it in every scene - someone I omitted earlier was the gal playing Nora - she's incredible, too. The scene with her and Matt when Matt reveals the affair - that's some of the most convincing acting I've ever seen.

Perhaps - because we had HBO trouble on Sunday, we aborted and watched on Go last night - I ended up seeing that scene twice. First time, I didn't think anything of it. Second time around, I thought, "Did she jump on that bus?"

Not sure - trying to figure out how he knew where to go find mom. He didn't have a key to the house, probably, and left the baby - thinking Chief or Jill would be along. Not 100%, though, and I had the same question.

Pretty obvious from the beginning.

I guess we'll find out in time.

Garvey's wish is coming true, isn't it? Family is coming back together, intact (so far)...

Yeah - I think Matt suspects a lot of this stuff, but wasn't certain of the details. After all, that's the big mystery - the Garveys are in the center of all of this and initially, it appeared they didn't lose anybody. Now we know that each of them did in a way, and the only one known to all of them was the kid at school. But, each had direct or indirect physical contact with a departed - at the moment. Same thing that drove the dogs crazy may be affecting them (and old chief, as well). Mrs. Midnight is convinced that the departed are talking to old chief.

I hope it doesn't follow that path. I'd prefer a Carnivale or Firefly type story to an ever increasing confusion of Lost scenario.

I absolutely believe that he does, which is why I am so interested in what Garvey wished for. Hell, Wayne looked at him like he read his mind after he asked him for his wish. Great show that I am really excited to see where it goes!

Something I have thought about as well.

Not as convoluted but a strong character driven story with a supernaturalish background story arc.

Eta: more naked Nora next season, she fine.

I'm really pissed that Holy Wayne died. I don't think that was a good decision long-term for the show at all. He has so much story behind him to tell.

Because he didn't know what to do with it. Dad is a police chief, he would know where to place the baby. He couldn't just walk into some hospital and abandon a baby, there would be questions asked like where it came from, what has he been doing. Remember, he killed a federal agent. Dropping off the baby at dad's was a safe option for him. Now he can pull a Shultz and say "I know nothing!"

I have a feeling Garvey's wish was pretty simple. His wish was to be forgiven. He carries great guilt for cheating on his wife and family which was highlighted exponentially during the disappearances.

And Holy Wayne probably read that simple request for forgiveness and was pleased considering how everyone else likely wishes for things to return to normal and to have their loved ones return. Probably why he gave that big grin before saying wish granted.

And it is the show's irony that Garvey continues to fight daily battles with the guilty remnant when his own internal guilt is what's causing so much pain, angst and mental breakdowns.

Or something like that.

Just watched it off the dvr what a great last episode without really telling us that much. I had a feeling I was going to be disappointed with the finish but it really left me excited to see where they go.

This show is one of the best I've ever watched as far as emotionally invested in the situation, when Nora was walking down the stairs you kind of knew what was going on and I had that sick to my stomach feeling for what her reaction was going to be.

Great episode and great series. I was put off by the first few episodes but now I'm really glad I hung around.

Lots of questions, but one I can't figure out is what does the rabid crazy dog turning into a nice pet at the end signify? Can't wrap my mind around the crazy animals and why one would suddenly turn back normal?

I think that probably had something to do with Holy Wayne. Once people associate with Wayne they change. Maybe he didn't wish for his family back. Maybe he wished for things to return as they were before the disappearance and that would explain why the pet returned to normal. I thought about that a lot and really didn't come to a conclusion so hopefully the next season sheds some light.

I had the exact same question and was wondering why it wasn't being discussed. To me, the dog going back to normal was likely a very significant sign that something had changed drastically. Not sure what that change is yet, but going from just a raging lunatic of a dog to a household pet seems huge.
