I dare you to try to shoot an expandable through an elk shoulder plate
If you hit there, you have bigger problems than blade choice.
Sh*t happens. I've had to take a quartering-to shot through the front shoulder before.

When I'm on a hunt, I try to remove every variable I can
Like how each arrow can fly differently
with different fixed heads from the same box?
Each of my arrows in my quiver is individually shot and rated. If its out of the ordinary, I tweak it or cull it.

I've heard lots of stories and even seen alot of firsthand examples of blades not opening
You have seen examples of blades not opening? What head and when.
I've seen heads that did not open, had one blade open, and have opened in mid air before impact. One example that sticks in my head is a buddy who shot a doe with a Rage Hypo last fall. The broadhead opened before impact, threw the arrow off course, and he still almost decapitated the deer when he hit it in the neck (all on slow-mo video). He had had no problems with the heads before, and continues to shoot them. Those kinds of things are freak incidents. I know for a fact how good a Rage Hypo is, I've seen the damage they can do. Personally, I just want to remove the CHANCE of a freak accident happening.
I'm not saying expandables are better or worse. In fact, I said...
"Broadhead choice is one of those "to each his own" kind of things. The truth is any modern broadhead on the market can kill a deer or other game animal. Each type has its drawbacks."
I'm just defending fixed blades from whoever said they are obsolete. I don't care what ya'll shoot. You can kill a deer either way.

Unless you are Neo from the Matrix, and posses the ability to pause that arrow in mid-flight for inspection,, you did not "see" that.
Your friend shot a limb.
Isaac frickin newton says expandable open every time they hit an animal, barring some jackass gluing them shut.

The small game and turkey heads look really interesting. I used to always need a squirrel arrow in my old club.

I watched a lot of videos on those grim reapers and they look devastating. I like the spring retention system. I think I'm going to make the swap and keep a few Montecs in the quiver for coons and yotes.
