This show is on Disney Channel, let's remember this.
Disney Channel caters to a certain audience and their product is typically cookie cutter shite to us.. because we ARE NOT THEIR AUDIENCE.
Boy Meets World was a great show TO US, and this is a spinoff of that show, but made to cater to a different demo. If this show doesn't please said demo, it won't stay on the air.
Yes, the show has the same showrunner, but its a different audience, and a different channel.
Another thing to remember is Disney has a 3 season rule, their shows now typically only last three seasons...
BMW was awkward when it started out just as this show is, but they had to set the scene for the new audience all in ~22 minutes.
This show could move to another channel eventually (such as ABC family), and changes to the format and story could be made as the series evolves (remember eric wasn't always stupid).
Simply put this show was made for kids of today, who have parents who watched BMW, but also to appeal to those who haven't watched BMW and we will just have to deal with it.

outside of eric after he went full tard, all BMW characters where relatable. I don't know why Disney insists on portraying kids as they do it's so off putting

I agree, but its a different world out there.. they had to make it their own..

If Cory is a teacher why wouldn't Riley just ride to work with him?
Posted on 6/28/14 at 10:54 am to WG_Dawg
Being the son of a teacher they get to school way earlier than students. Like by at least an hour. It makes sense they don't ride with him

As a Dad that has been forced to watch many Disney shows the past 8 years I must say this show is shite. Even compared to other shite Disney shows, it's terrible.

I may be a terrible BMW fan for saying this but crazy stupid Eric was probably my favorite character of the entire show. He had me rolling as a kid and still does when I watch the re-runs.

The only good that came out of that Eric was Plays With Squirrels

I should say long-haired crazy Eric was my favorite. Short hair Eric was a little too insane.

I watched it earlier, I enjoyed it, got off to a slow start but I can get past some of the Disney "effects" and enjoy it.
Will keep watching, can never judge a show from it's first few episodes but I liked it from about midway onward, seeing Feeny at the end made me cry.

Watching now (I'm awesome and I do awesome things on Saturdays). I would have liked it better if Corey and Topanga had ended up with a kid like Sean. Like...the two goody goodies end up with a total pain in the arse and the show is about trying to steer her in the right direction.
And yeah, Maya is going to be pregnant, on a very "special episode", by the third season.
And why the FRICK does Farkle refer to himself in the third person? Is it a way to make adults realize, "Wow, I want that child dead."?

Loved Boy Meets World.
Girl Meets World was trying too hard to get the entire series of BMW into one episode. It was too forced.
Also, Cory can't be the "Mentor" that Feeney was. He can't be the Dad and be the mentor at the same time. Joseph Campbell's "Hero's Journey" gives the outline for almost all Disney movies and they picked the wrong mentor.

Meh it was the pilot. They had to "link" the old show with the new show somehow, and I get that. I'm anxious to see how the rest of the episodes play out.
