I don't think Mix will ever play in the MLS, going by his quotes after his trial with Portland.

Eventually MLS will have to move away from this model of owning all the contracts.

In that case, though, he wouldn't have been a DP. If he comes to MLS now it will be as a DP and his contract situation would be similar to other leagues around the world.
