The Parent Trap (1998)

So, the kids decided they wanted to watch a movie last night and after numerous rejections by one, or the other (or vetoes from Mom or Dad), we pulled this one from the DVDs to watch. It had been years since I had watched it, and I have a few takeways:
1) It is a very worthy remake of the original, with a lot of nods to the 1961 version (including one particular actress' appearance). Funny, and heartwarming.
2) It makes one realize what a waste of talent Lindsey Lohan has become. This was her big breakout and she did a great job. Her subsequent work was also pretty good and but for going completely off the rails (which is what happened) she seemed poised for a nice career. Damned shame.
3) Natasha Richardson...tragic.

Agree with all of this. My daughter will watch both the original and this one quite often. Although I'm more a fan of the original, I do enjoy the remake.

I was a kid myself when the 1998 version came out. I still watch it whenever it comes on TV 
.

This movie had me thinking Lindsay Lohan was a twin for years because I was a little retard.

I was going through my TV guide button on my TV and The Parent Trap is coming on ABC Family today at 6 PM CST.
