You have no clue what kind of barrels he was looking for and the quantity he would need to release the beer commercially.

6-12 barrels based on previous years numbers. IMO, and some might disagree, a Pappy barrel or higher end bourbon would be for marketing only. Really any mid-range bourbon would work. You're not getting the full complexity of the bourbon in the beer, but rather a few elements of the bourbon. As long as you're not using an Old Crow or Rich and Rare barrel, I think you're good. That said, it's not my brewery and Andrew is the man in charge, so if he wants something specific, who am I to stop him? Grand Reserve is good as is.
