The Chris McDaniel campaign has identified multiple Mississippi counties in which enough improper ballots have been cast that a legal challenge to the outcome of the election is warranted.

This after Thad Cochran reportedly relied on 25,000-35,000 Democrat votes to pull him to victory in the June 24 runoff.

UPDATE: The Cochran campaign is reportedly asking county clerks not to certify the voting rolls until the last day possible so that the McDaniel people will not be able to look at the rolls and challenge them.

This could be an interesting summer in Mississippi.

A McDaniels challenge showing widespread invalid voting could be enough to get a new runoff.

I don't know MS election law, but I feel that the courts could overturn the Cochran victory entirely if thousands of the invalid votes happened at precincts where Cochran won by overwhelming numbers, such as with 95% of the vote.

I think in Ms there is no election recount rather a court has to declare the election invalid. Doubt a new election would help McDaniel though-he'll probably lose by a bigger margin. His actions and words haven't helped his image.

There is clear evidence of voter fraud in this election (cross over voters casting ballots in both the Democratic and Republican primaries). It is also my understanding that you cannot vote in the runoff if you did not vote in the primary (I may be misunderstanding this part).

Bottom line, I recommend that he take it to court. It is not like the Republican establishment will ever support him so he is not burning any bridges with them.

Will this be the norm going forward? Every loser of a close election threatening court action?

He lost to the better man.

Can someone tell me what makes the votes invalid?

Im assuming that registered Dems aren't allowed to vote in Republican primaries?

It will be an uphill battle for McDaniel. Think I'll sit out the November election.

I heard the Cochran camp was passing out money to blacks for them to vote.

Here is what the old bastard should have done.

He calls Mac, and says look bud, lets unite the party and make a deal.

I will serve 3 years and then step aside, snd the governor will then appoint you to fill out my term.

Did he find this with his election monitors that only monitored black precincts?

Ds are praying that he keeps protesting.
