THIS.

People often forget how easy it is to cheer for the USA as a citizen. Especially when you don't have much fandom invested (most haven't followed them and if we lose, we lose...their lives will go on). It's patriotic to go to the local bar and wear red, white and blue.

While true bars don't fill up for Olympics or world baseball classic or any other world wide event. And unlike say a superbowl party everyone that is in attendance seems to have genuine interest in the outcome and not just being there to be seen.

I think the casual fan is talking about it more this time around than last time.

true but i think its being done more than last time around. But certainly the support now doesn't mean the sport has 'made' it. certainly helps though.
