I got some info from Dr. Meeks that LSUS is going to a new policy where professors must choose free open-source textbooks for classes going forward.

While this sounds good, I get a little concerned that the quality of the textbooks utilized may suffer. I am the first one to complain about the high cost of textbooks. When a book gets over $100 it gets crazy. At the same time, I think Dr. Meeks is concerned because this would effect his ability to require certain management books (not actual textbooks) for his classes. I just had a book called Play to Win that was required and only cost $22 on Amazon. I think it was worth it.

If they mandate that all textbooks must be free, it can effect the quality of our education.

LSUS is sure active as of late with altering this program. Wonder what's their endgame and the timing of these changes?

Perhaps the program is getting too large for its britches?
