Can anyone, preferably an alumni, tell me if they thought this program helped them out?? Did it open up doors for you that you wouldn't have opened if you didn't complete the program?

I am so torn about doing it. I don't want to take out a huge loan for something that isn't going to benefit me in the long run.

I know the deadline for the next session is soon and if I'm going to do it I would like to get started on it ASAP. Or should I wait? Save up for a year and try to do it so I don't have to take out any loans.

Any help would be useful. Thanks!

I would recommend knowing what the purpose of obtaining your degree. Is it for career advancement in your current field or is it to get a specific job or just in general to obtain a job? If its for a specific job, then yea loans ASAP would probably be worth it. If its to get a job in general, you may want to look into getting a job and your employer may help or at least they can advise you what an MBA can do for you. (that is my route), or if its just for career advancement you may want to save up and try not to get loans.

It really depends on your situation.

Based on the bio's of the people in my classes, I'd say the majority are in a similar situation to where I was... management or upper level employee looking to get to the senior or "C" level at any firm. In that is your situation, I don't see a negative to exploring the program. I've been actively searching that level employment since November and they almost all require an advanced degree.

Another common bio I see is people in a non-business field in their organization. These individuals appear to be looking to move up the chain in their respective company. Again, I don't see where an engineer with MBA wouldn't be given a hard look as plant manager, etc. If this is your situation, bmcmil2 has really good advice. Talk to your employer and let them know your career intentions. Ask them what they feel will better your chances... an MBA, some other advanced degree or certification... if you're lucky, they may even offer to pay.
