I tried the cyanogenmod installer app and it said it was not compatible with my device.
I don'd mind rooting, but everything I've read for the verizon model with the 4.3 update said you will trip Knox or whatever it's called.
If someone has a step by step method that worked for them, please post it.

No idea. I'm on the AT&T version (SGH I747). When I tried Cyanogen, I didn't have any issues.
