Ford's crappy design/packaging has been going on for quite some time. Not to mention more than half of the parts are made in Mexico.
Had to change the evaporator on my 98 5.4 F150.
Remove seats, drop column, remove dash just to get at the part

Damn. AC work is not something I am good at. My arse would have tried to cut a hole in the firewall. I removed the dash from my Mustang to change the heater core. Every damn thing in the dash was riveted to a 4" round solid bar in the dash (my guess is for safety reasons). I am near got a hernia trying to put it back in place.
