Drogo is badass no doubt (ie: ripping out that bro's throat like it was nothing), and is especially deadly on horseback. However as Jorah shows the Dothraki don't wear armor which would make him extremely vulnerable in one on one combat with probably the best living swordsman in Westeros.

Oberyn also didn't wear armor yet he practically beat the Mountain and I don't see many people faulting him here for lack of armor.
