Oh man, here we go. I've seen him play multiple times in person.

He best compares to KD. Hands down, the number one player in this class. He's every bit of 6'10 and plays on the wing. Will need to improve his shot (has a hitch) and defense (side to side movement) but both of those will come when he finally stops growing.

I was talking to some scouting peoples (the ones you've read their stories if you want legitimacy) and my quote was this, "If Jarell Martin was a 5 star then ranking services need 6 and maybe 7 stars to rank Ben Simmons." Number of people who disagreed: 0. He's a once in a decade type of talent. This is no knock on Jarell at all either. Ben Simmons is just that good.

Bookmark this, quote it, take a pic of it, whatever you want to do because you'll need to remember it when he's dominating at the NBA level in hopefully 3-4 years (you know, 2 and through instead of one and done... prayers going out).

Edit: Reread what I said, he shoots it extremely well and guards well too but those are the only two possible knocks in his perimeter/face up 4 game. He does struggle against the 7 foot 260 type but that isn't his game so no worries.

Exactly. We are in 100% agreement here.

I took "will be the #1 pick" as a lock. Sorry for confusion.

Oh, it is a lock. He'll dominate Camps this summer, then Peach Jam, then at LSU for 1 or 2 years (depending on rule most likely), then on to being #1 overall. Trust that.

Oh, and if I am wrong, some NBA GM loses his job over it when he goes on to be a Superstar.

Please slow your roll; you guys are setting this kid up for failure. Setting the bar wayyyy to high.

I've seen the kid in person numerous times. I sat right by his father for one of the games. You take Victor + Jarell (played together for half of the summer between Jarell's Jr/Sr season in HS) and I'll take Simmons. That simple. He is, BY FAR, the best HS player I've ever seen.

Oddly, that video doesn't show any of his outside game and handles where he excels. He played PG for a few games for E1T1.

Watch at 55 second mark or so and you get a little glimpse of his KD-like game. Except he's clearly gonna be bulkier.

Yea he has said in interviews he watches KD all the time as inspiration. Which is awesome because he is the perfect example of an all around basketball player who can do everything.

yea most kids at this age, even the uber-talented ones, just need a little hands-on coaching to improve their lateral movement on D and he should catch up to his body soon. good thing musselman should be here to work with him.

Certainly reasonable assumption.

I think he is unquestionably the frontrunner for #1 pick but I mean it is impossible to have a lock 3 years before... He could have an injury or be dead by then for all we know. But he is about as close as it gets to a lock 3 years prior.

You think Musselman is here more than a year then?

He looks like a cross of a Lamar Odom/Charles O'bannon

There are some similarities, but I don't think Simmons has the scoring ability Durant had before he went to Texas. Nor the shooting ability. Honestly, I can't say I've seen a player like Simmons coming out of high school for a long time. His passing and dribbling abilities are exceptional for a 6'10" wing. With a consistent 3-point shot, Simmons is a defensive nightmare.
