A couple of you guys seem to be familiar with legal proceedings such as these, obviously it varies but is there a timeline that would be "standard" or expected in situations like this? I guess what I'm asking is this: is there any way to guess on how long it may be until we know whether or not Mills will be charged with anything?

The wheels of justice are slow moving.

Never, and I mean never, talk to the cops as you're being arrested. Nothing good can come of it.

Not in today's world, brother. It doesn't work that way anymore. Ask the Duke Lacrosse coach and players.

i really people who clearly have no clue as to legal criminal procedure would cease to post ignorant comments like this. this has been disputed ad nauseam, yet there's still people like this poster who fail to grasp that this assertion couldn't be further from the tuth

Maybe they missed the 50+ page thread where multiple posters made similar claims. Maybe they equate the police with the court of public opinion. Regardless, talking to the police won't do you any good. Mills absolutely did the right thing by missing the meeting.

He will go to court sometime next week(1st week in Aug.), agree to a plea deal for a lesser charge and be reinstated by team vote come the end of the week...will get a 1 game suspension (God for bid we out do the NFL and Rice deal on abuse)

unless there's something out there we don't know, which is very possible, wouldn't surprise me if charges are never filed. the state definitely does not want to take this to trial given how weak the case is overall, so their only real hope in getting any charges to stick would be mills agreeing to a plea of a lesser charge. a future trial date would assuredly carry well into football season, and mills won't be reinstated until everything is resolved. that could very well pressure mills into agreeing to a plea, and i'm sure the state knows this, which is kind of messed up. if mills was just a normal dude, they wouldn't have nearly as much leverage.

The accuser is credible. He will be charged in the next couple weeks with misdemeanor battery.

I suspect Miles will reinstate and suspend for two games.

I would like to know how after the story sounded like she was so innocent when events don't lead up like that. who doesn't call or text when they looking for someone and knocks on a random door at that time of night?

Mills wouldn't be found guilty of anything if the case were to play out normally, but the only way Mills won't be suspended is if the charges are dropped before the season. If that doesn't happen, he'll either agree to a misdemeanor plea to get back on the team at the cost of missing a few games, or still be caught up in the legal process and suspended indefinitely. Tough break.

I disagree. JJ was reinstated with pending charges.

I don't know about the stories that are out there. But it's not my judgment that matters

I'm just guessing as to the punishment. Two games may seem light but it's misdemeanor and it's not a conviction.
