Gov. Bobby Jindal announced his plans to try to yank Louisiana out of the Common Core education standards. The Republican governor planned a Wednesday news conference to talk about Louisiana's use of the English and math benchmarks adopted by most states.

Jindal opposes the standards as an attempted federal takeover of education. He's said he's looking at executive actions to scrap use of Common Core.

He also vetoed the dog restraining law in pick ups. Said it was to broad. Now if he'll only veto the yeti sticker.

Is this a math problem?

If yes, I don't know the answer.

Common Core is a joke. It's bullshite trying to pretend it teaches critical thinking. Kids get partial credit if they say 2+2=5 if they show how they came to the result.

It is good to hear that Mr. Jindal will be rejecting all federal intrusion and thus all federal funds in Louisiana schools.

People only think common core is bad because they weren't taught that way and don't know how to do their kids' work for them!

I don't know anything about Common Core but it's getting to the point where if Jindal is against it then I'm for it.

...and that's sad because I used to be republican.

Just like every decision he makes, this is all about making himself look better for a possible run for president or VP.

Didn't the feds basically strong arm states into adopting common core by threatning to pull their federal education funding if they didn't?

How is a set of standards which were created and agreed upon by the governors of the states a "federal takeover"?
