So that leaves us with two options. Stay there continually or constantly intervene every time they get in trouble. Or, stay completely out and let them fight their own civil wars.

How about "not arming their fricking enemies"?

ISIS got a lot of their weapons from Syria, including US-made Stinger missiles which they've already used to shoot down at least one Iraqi helicopter.

The only thing we're not 100% sure of is if this is stuff from when we armed Libya to take down Qadaffi or if this is stuff we sent directly to Syria to take down Assad.
