I don't think the diamond suits him. He need more passing options even or ahead of him. As much as Klinsmann is trying to avoid it, I think his best spot is paired up with Jones/Beckerman at the base of a 4-2-3-1.

He had a poor match (he was overwhelmed and mentally really affected), but saw that late, and was looking to connect the golpe de gracia.

Had he placed it properly, the rafters would have come down..........
