Get her a new job, help her find a place to stay, get new phone #, etc

She is capable of doing all of those things. Not his problem.

I'd let her stay for a week or so, but tell her it is temporary. I assume she lost her child and home in legal issues?

While capable, she might not be thinking clearly and needs a push in the right direction. Many people get upset and do irrational things. Being depressed is just a long-term example of that, and the girl probably just needs to be helped a little bit, and doesn't know it.

Bad advice. If you let her stay then you will have to legally have her evicted which could take a months. Never let someone stay with you that you are not sure if they will leave. This chick is already hanging out illegally. If you gave her the keys, she will never leave.
