the ot is a place to vent and offers anonymity. it's basically free therapy

it's easier to follow advice from someone with whom you have no personal connection. most people don't care if they offend or "dissapoint" some anonymous poster like they would a family member or friend.
plus if you follow advice from a friend and it turns out badly, it's hard to get over and some people (women) will hold grudges

I'm just stating the obvious, but it seems a little hypocritical to start this thread when you have also started a Confessions Thread.... that went 15 pages.
