Oh, I was also debating peanut oil vs. canola oil. For some reason I'm thinking peanut may be better for deep frying.

I use peanut.

Peanut if you plan to re use it, if just frying with it one time it is not worth the expense

IMO, peanut is better if you're frying longer, ie: a turkey. It's a good oil but for everything but turkey I use canola.
