I agree his contentment with life is admirable. But his close mindedness holds him back from a lot of things this world has to offer. We are not put on earth to do yard work and drink beer.

ehh... I'll give him a bit of a pass.
While he can be overly judgmental of things he doesn't understand it's a small miracle that he is even willing to listen to/tolerate people he disagrees with considering his father Cotton is a bitter raging sexist/racist/bigot a-hole.
