Out of curiosity I Googled the school. The LINK to its website shows that the Paul Robeson High School has more Special Education staff than English/Reading staff. In fact, the Special Education Department has 50% more staff than any other Department.
Chicago Public Schools should be ashamed of the information provided at the PRHS website. I doubt there are very many visits by parents with children attending PRHS.

I agree. I think parent involvement is essential, both at the school and at home. I'd bet at least half of these kids don't do their homework or do a poor job of it and the parent doesn't care.
This is 'No child left behind' - even if they should be.
They would be better served to keep these kids in school an extra hour and a half every day just to do their homework at their desk.
