There are better hardware options and better VoIP providers than Magic Jack. I have U-Verse and dropped ATT phone service almost a year ago. I use an Obi-Hai phone gateway connecting to Callcentric, which offers features that run rings around ATT and Cox Cable phone service at a fraction of the cost.

All I know is I've been getting mother fricking solicitors calling from magic jack numbers a few times a day and I'm about to shake a baby

I have a MJ with uverse. I use it for small home-office phone. Its fine 85-90% of time. Then I have a few calls per day where I can barely hear the other party its so low... thats my only complaint. (ps I have one of the original versions of MJ not the MJ Plus so that may have been improved).

IM also curious of any other cheap VOIP suggestions people might have. Its time to renew my MJ and I started looking around.

It worked great for me when I was living in Thailand. I could call back to the US free and it was pretty clear. Price is good for the MJ service.
