Will you feel the same way if revenue from within the city limits is used to "subsidize" areas in unincorporated areas? It all seems kind of arbitrary to me.

I think it is silly that people in Shenandoah claim ownership of the mall. The mall is owned by.. whomever owns the mall.

That's the way it works.

That's our system.

BR gets the local tax revenue from Cortana Mall because Cortana Mall is in the city limits.

The Mall of La's would go to SG if it became a city.

There is nothing arbitrary. It's the law.

Now you can argue that SG is too big, or that SG should have different boundaries and that's fine; but the law isn't going to change. If a city incorporates businesses inside their city limits have their local taxes go to the city.

And by local taxes I mean taxes that are not dedicated to a designated entity like BREC, the school system, etc.

You do realize that if you change Shenandoah to "Southdowns" you just described perfectly what happened?
