I'm sitting here trying to convince myself to work, but all I can do is think of ways to not do so, including looking up some of my favorite authors and wishing I had more time to write my own stuff.

In any case, just looked up Brent Weeks and it got me thinking: I want to see a Night Angel Trilogy. A lot. Would be ridiculous.

I also would love to see the Chronicles of the Black Company made into a trilogy. That shite would be intense.

Any other ones that stick out to you? Pretty excited about Anthony Ryan's Raven's Shadow Series and hope the second book is as good as the first. If it is, I can definitely see that being a hell of a series of movies. Not that that is the litmus test for greatness... but you know, whatever.

What you got?

i think the Wool series of shortstories would translate well to film.

the first one could stand alone.

it would be a character piece much like gattaca, but with enough depth to last 90-100 min. then there is the twist ending too.

Brigadier-General Sir Harry Paget Flashman VC KCB KCIE is a fictional character created by George MacDonald Fraser, but based on the character "Flashman" in Tom Brown's Schooldays (1957), a semi-autobiographical work by Thomas Hughes.

In Hughes' book, Flashman is the notorious bully of Rugby School who persecutes Tom Brown, and who is finally expelled for drunkenness. Twentieth century author George MacDonald Fraser had the idea of writing Flashman's memoirs, in which the school bully would be identified with an "illustrious Victorian soldier": experiencing many 19th century wars and adventures and rising to high rank in British army, acclaimed as a great soldier, while remaining by his unapologetic self-description "a scoundrel, a liar, a cheat, a thief, a coward—and oh yes, a toady." Fraser's Flashman is an antihero who runs from danger or hides cowering in fear, betrays or abandons acquaintances at at the slightest incentive, bullies and beats servants with gusto, beds every available woman, carries off any loot he can grab, gambles and boozes enthusiastically, and yet, through a combination of luck and cunning, ends each volume acclaimed as a hero.
The books are like James Bond set in the 19th century -- and hilarious to boot. Flashman experiences (always against his will) The Charge Of The Light Brigade (which he somehow ends up leading!), The Sepoy Mutiny, the Taiping Rebellion, Little Big Horn and other great moments of history, all the while getting mixed up with Queen Victoria, Bismarck, Wild Bill Hickok, Lola Montez, Lincoln, The Empress of China, Oscar Wilde, John Brown the abolitionist and other such immortal personages.

My favorite book in the series is the third, Flash For Freedom (which takes place in pre-Civil War NO and Mississippi), but I'd start out with the first, Flashman. After that you can really read them in any order. There are 12 books in the series; I reread them every 4 or 5 years.

That would make an excellent movie trilogy, but I just couldn't see the budget happening to get it done well. But seeing the Lady and company go to town would be pretty cool. Sean Bean for Croaker.

The Lies of Locke Lamora would make an amazing movie.

Only one book but the Long Walk by Stephen King would be great if directed properly.

Maybe one of the Bernard Cornwell series. The Saxon Stories would probably be the best IMO. The Warlord series dealing with Arthur and the Grail Quest series dealing with legendary artifacts are both good but might get bogged down in previous works about them.

I am a big fan of the repairman jack series. I can't think of anybody for Jack though, I think you would really need to nail the casting of Jack. I also think the old mans war books would be good. I didn't know about the old mans war books until a thread here, and I really enjoyed them.

The Destroyer series by Warren Murphy and Richard Sapir.
They already made one movie "Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins" I liked the movie but that was 1985. With today's CGI it could be great.

I don't care if it's a movie or tv series, but I want the Travis McGee series.

The Stand - King
Dark Tower - King
Hitchhikers Guide
Mitch Rapp aka American Assasin

Not a series, but if HBO did a different king book each season it would be the greatest thing ever.

It
Salem's Lot
The Talisman
The Stand

Master and Commander series by Patrick O'Brian. Twenty books in the series so probably more of a TV series but I'd like to see some more movies, the one they put out was very good.
