Lets have a look at Frank O’ Connor’s quote a little closer. First off, he states that this is a map you don’t normally associate with water. I don’t know about you, but the last thing I’m thinking when I play Sanctuary is the very low amount of water located on one side of the map.

Secondly, he says the map has “Flowing” water and “wetness on rock”, presumably from the water – if you take a look at this screenshot of Halo 2: Vista below, you will see that the rocks to the side of the base features flowing water, as well as wet rocks.

Looking more at Frank’s quote, he also mentions a “waterfall”. After looking at Sanctuary momentarily, the map actually features multiple in close proximity to each other, as seen in the picture below:

Finally, his post also makes mention of “static” water – if you head to the Ring area (a.k.a. the middle of the map), you can see static water in the small pool, as seen in the image below.

So, does this mean one of the remastered maps for Halo 2: Anniversary could be Sanctuary? We really don’t know. While these images seem to fit the quota and the map is of course a fan favorite, it could still be something completely different – such as an old map which now features a waterfall, static and moving water as well as wet rocks.

The next convention for Halo: The Master Chief Collection is set to take place at Gamescom which begins on August 14th and ends on August 17th. Details on 343 Industries’ presence have yet to be announced but are expected shortly.

I know Ivory Tower has a small waterfall by rocket spawn, so maybe. I don't see how Lockout or Midship could be left out.

I'd be more than happy with Lockout, Midship, and Sanctuary.

I like Ivory Tower, but wouldn't say I love it. Though I agree, CTF and Bomb were really fun.

After lockout ivory tower was probably our most played LAN maps for H2.

After Lockout, ours was either Midship, Burial Mounds, Turf, or Terminal. I loved Midship because I was fantastic with a sticky grenade(Over 16,000 sticks in matchmaking in H3, yes I added it up), and the others because we enjoyed sniping so much. Burial Mound and Turf had the best super jumps in the game too. Well...Ascensions were pretty good.
