Take out Stony Brook and insert Fresno State.

And this is new? Smaller athletic programs have always done well in college baseball. This talk of parity is ridiculous. In 1990 Georgia Southern and the Citadel were in Omaha. 91 Creighton Wichita State Fresno State and Long Beach State. 92 Wichita State and Pepperdine.

So you don't think there is more parity in college baseball now than in the 90s?

Only 3 national seeds advanced past the regionals, tied for the fewest ever. If Virginia and ULL lose tonight, only 1 national seed (TCU) would make it to Omaha.

That's parity that we haven't seen in a very long time, if ever. The new bats have helped put smaller programs on a little more equal footing than they were before.

Of course there have always been "small" teams that have succeeded.

This doesn't take away the fact that way more schools (big or small) are investing in baseball and making it more of a priority than ever before.

Besides Texas, none of the other teams heading to Omaha have been there more than 3 times ever.
