He sounds like he doesn't know jack shite. Gasoline burns in the combustion chamber. Key words being "burns" and "combustion chamber". Knowing that, please tell me how it cools and lubes?

And I have a 17kw standby gen. Runs on natural gas. So I can't speak on the portable version. My portable is a 6500kw Briggs.

Do you have a propane tank at your house already?
If you do lpg is the way to go, the fuel does not go stale and will not varnish or gum up your carb. If not, getting your portable tank filled without electricity could prove problematic.
