The Golden Age (1986-2000) of LSU baseball under Skip Bertman created 5 national titles and about 12 appearances in Omaha.

Expectations will always be a part of the baseball program. Parity is real and recruiting efforts are tempered by the Amateur Draft .

With more universities spending money on baseball , the talent level gets spread out over the country. And the way the game is played now gives lesser programs a chance to be competitive in a game. Instead if losing a game 14-2 , a team may lose 5-2.

Just have to accept that going to Omaha 1/3 if the time might be more realistic for any top 15 program now. Paul has been 3 times in eight years. That might be as good as it gets these days.

pretty sure the only coach with more in that time span is Mike Fox at UNC, and he hasn't won anything in Omaha yet. USC had their run, but they've still only been to Omaha three times in that time span. Just think about all the elite programs in the Mainieri era. Only one has had more trips to Omaha than LSU.
