Can someone compare these two like they're talking to a drooling idiot?
I have cable and an Iphone 4 but I want to occasionally stream youtube, netflix, music etc. and I don't want to spend a whole lot since I mostly just watch sports and movies. TIA.

If you feel like reading
quote:
While both are capable devices and worth their respective price tags, I personally liked the Roku a bit better—it offers a bit more out of the box for an extra $15. You get apps on the device, a remote, more content choices, and pretty much all the streaming capabilities you'd want in a tiny little package. Most importantly, however, you get choice. If you like remotes, you get a remote. If you like controlling with your smartphone, you can use that instead. The Chromecast costs a bit less, though, and if you like streaming stuff from your mobile device, it might be the ideal choice for you instead.

I have the Roku in my bedroom and the Chromecast hooked up the my xbox1 in the living room
Chromecast is the better device now that WatchESPN has been added. The only thing missing for me now is Amazon Instant Video which I rarely use.
The ease of use with the phone is much better. The remote is a negative and it is much harder to search and find items. Also, chromecast takes no time to boot
