Officials are on their way to Westlake Chemical in Geismar, LA after a fire broke out at the plant just after 11 a.m.

State Police, the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office and a HazMat team has been called to the scene.

Westlake Chemical is located near the intersection of Highway 73 and Highway 30 in Ascension Parish.

Out here in Geismar now...had déjà vu of Williams explosion.

There has been a lot of explosions lately.
Westlake (twice now in the past 2-3 years)
Cf industries
Axiall Westlake (twice in 2 years)
Williams Olefins

I felt like previously it has been 10+ years before a single explosion occurred. Of course I could be wrong here.
