How to get better MPG in F-250

I have a 2008 F-250 with the 6.4l diesel. I currently get about 12.5 mpg. I have 35" mud tires that I'm about to replace with stock tires. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the chips or programs for this truck. It just rolled over 100k miles so I'm not under warranty anymore. I know that going back to stock tires will increase mpg, but how much? What about the chips? What's a realistic expectation on this? Thanks, R. Head
