Despite having a vacant director chair for its Ant-Man film, Marvel Studios has zeroed in on Sinister helmer Scott Derrickson to direct Doctor Strange. “My next movie will be STRANGE,” Derrickson tweeted Tuesday afternoon.

Derrickson made his feature writing and directing debut with the 2005 horror flick The Exorcism Of Emily Rose and followed with his first major studio gig, 2008's The Day The Earth Stood Still for Fox. The Keanu Reeves starrer was a critical disappointment. Four years later, Derrickson returned with smaller-scale genre pic Sinister, which he co-wrote with C. Robert Cargill, produced, and directed on a $3M shooting budget for microbudget maven Jason Blum. Sinister became an $87M box office hit for Blumhouse Productions and Summit. Derrickson’s next, the Jerry Bruckheimer/Screen Gems exorcism horror Deliver Us From Evil, opens July 2.

I am so disappointed!

TDTESS is one of the wost movies of the decade.

This isn't going to be easy source material to convert to film and this guy has proven he can't direct worth a damn.

Earth is just such a stupid movie and I could make a 20 page post on all the pointless poorly executed moments that make up that pile of crap.

I'm not sure there's gonna be a lot of people rushing to see a Dr. Strange movie unless they pull a big-time star as the lead.

They are going to grab a major star for this. Don't think Leto is big enough for a property not as well known like this one
