So who among us is a true Pels fan and will be rooting for a divisional rival that ended our best playoff run to win a title?

I know the heat have taken up residence in a lot of posters' heads lately, but you are godawful if it's so bad that you actively root for a divisional rival gets yet another title.

I don't care if you root for the Heat. You don't have to, and there's nothing wrong with not rooting for them, but frick the Spurs.

Yes, this is a repost. TIA.

I'm rooting for good basketball and 7 games. However, there could be implications to either side winning or losing that would effect the Pelicans. Would the Spurs winning lead Duncan and Pop to retire and open up a playoff spot for the Pelicans next year? Would the Heat losing send LeBron and Kevin Love to Cleveland to form a younger powerhouse team that would have a contention window that directly affects the Pelicans?

From a Macro perspective you almost want a Heat victory. LeBron joining Kyrie, Love and all the young talent in Cleveland would not be a good thing for the Pels.

Is it ok to dislike both of them?

And I don't like the word root. Makes me think of a high school cheerleader waving Pom Poms.

only people trying justify their position claim the spurs are our rivals. I guarantee you you couldn't find 10 spurs fans that consider the pels their rivals

possible that our "rival" winning another title could cause players to ride off in the sunset resulting in a positive for the pels. so rooting for the spurs is more logical and more "fanlike" than rooting against them

Last year I was jumped by a pack of Spurs fans outside of Fat Harry's and left beaten, bloodied, and for dead.

Been saying this since my friends had Dirk Nowitzki's actual dick down their throats a couple years ago

In football terms it'd be like cheering for the Falcons or Bucs to win the title

frick The Spurs and all the division rivals

This is ridiculous. That organization being successful does more to help the Pelicans than the Heat being successful. We need less superstars creating superteams and more building from within. The Spurs don't compete with us for any of our talent, but you damned well better be sure the larger market teams do.

When is the last time a decision came down to FA choosing between New Orleans and SA? I can't remember that happening ever.

ETA: This rivals business is ridiculous. You have to be a threat to be a rival or at least have a long standing history with each other. We are neither. We were a threat one time and we blew it.
