This is what stupid people believe.

Yep.

And onto the series, I think he is spending a bit too much time on global warming and not the cosmos at large, but what he's saying are great points. I'm sorry that the world renowned climatologists on the Poliboard thread disagree with the basic fact that CO2 warms the atmosphere, that we're adding to it, and the fact that we've only been able to accurately record global temperatures accurately for the past 150 years and for some reason a Time Magazine article from the 70s with a polar bear on the cover is the smoking gun that this isn't happening.

I think it's important information that people need. People need to stop living in denial that it's happening, when the results to our planet could be devastating. We really need to get off of oil and coal and work our way to solar, wind, and nuclear energy (which I'm disappointed he didn't talk about in the last episode).

People need to start thinking in the long term, especially since we're going to likely be living much longer than our ancestors did. It's estimated that the first bicentennial person is living right now, and the first person to live a millennia will be born in less than 50 years. The longest amount of time most morons in this country think about is 4 years. Maybe we should start considering the alternatives in order to make sure our children live in a better environment than we did.

Global Warming is Baby Boomer mentality at its finest. It's basically "frick everything. We're not the generation who has sacrificed anything for it, and we're not going to be the generation who has to pay for it. So frick your taxes and short term payments since I'll be long dead when this would affect me."

I have faith we'll turn it around, since I look at our species as misguided and greedy, but typically well meaning and willing to come together when the situation calls for it.
