Having a great one, every 2-3 years is just fine, imo..

I wouldn't even say we have a "great" one every few years. more like every 5-7 years over the past 25 and really had none from Brooks in 88 until Faulk and James arrived in 99, not really making their mark until 2000. Even when we were bad in the 90s we had great lineman and Dbs come through the program like McFarland, Northern, Donaldson, Wiley, Green, Roman, Hilliard, Walker etc. Even now in this present golden age, we almost always have a great lineman and secondary player on every team, while linebackers have been far and few comparatively. Not saying it's been bad for us because a strong line and secondary means you're going to do well defensively. Its just very odd we haven't fared better at LB with all the great defenses we've had
